Business Communication is a module, which
we are, suppose to take in our first year at Taylor’s Business School. This
assignment is on writing out a business report on a business premise. Our group
consists of 4 of us. We had chosen to do our report on Peppercorn Café which
was located at ss15, Subang Jaya.
My expectations
before starting this assignment was that it was going to be a difficult task to
complete. This was because there were a lot of requirements to be reached in
order to get good marks. When carrying out the assignment I was proven right as
we had some problem and dissatisfaction amongst group members. Furthermore, we
had problems with finding references. However, we did work hard to fulfill the
requirements and satisfy our expectations.
There were
some things that went well when carrying out this assignment. For example, our
interview was great as the owner of the café cooperated and helped us in many
ways. She was friendly and provided us with many useful information. Other than that, we managed to finish this on time. This was
a great pleasure to us, as we did not submit it late although we faced a few
problems.
The few problems,
which we faced, are, misunderstandings amongst group members and poor time
management. We had misunderstanding amongst our group, as some of us were not
happy with out task division. I also felt that some of my group members were
not very cooperative and their work was very poorly done. There were many
careless mistakes and they had not even bothered to correct it. I would say
that although we managed to finish our assignment on time, we had to rush to
finish it. We were doing this till the very last minute mainly, because WE had
to edit the grammatical errors and find more referencing.
If I were to do
something differently, I would have chosen to start my work early.
I would have urged and pushed my other group members to
start of early as well.
I would also have confronted the uncooperative group
members, because this is a group work and it affects all of our marks. However,
from this assignment I managed to learn a lot. For example I learned how to
conduct an interview and extract important information. I also learned to write
a proper business report. Other than that, I think I can say I learned to
improve my grammar and vocabulary as well.
